Turkish automotive industry achieved the highest February exports to date

Turkey's automotive exports increased by 20 percent to 3.1 billion dollars in February.

According to OIB data, the Turkish automotive industry exported 3 billion 130 million dollars with an increase of 19.9 percent in February. The share of the sector, which ranks first in the country's exports, was 14.8 percent.

Baran Çelik, Chairman of the Board of Directors of OIB: "We have achieved the highest February export to date. We recorded a double-digit increase in all product groups except tow trucks. Our exports to 9 of the top 10 countries have increased. There were increases of 75 percent in exports to the United Kingdom and 62 percent to the United States."

According to the data of the Uludağ Automotive Industry Exporters' Association (OIB), the February exports of the Turkish automotive industry increased by 19.9 percent compared to the same period last year and reached 3 billion 130 million dollars. The share of the sector, which ranks first in the country's exports, was 14.8 percent. In the first two months of the year, exports increased by 11 percent to 5 billion 909 million dollars.

Baran Çelik, Chairman of the Board of Directors of OIB, said, "Our automotive industry has achieved the highest February exports to date. Our exports of the supply industry, passenger cars, motor vehicles for the transport of goods and buses-minibuses-midibuses increased by double digits. Last month, 9 of the top 10 countries experienced an increase in exports. We recorded an increase of 75 percent in exports to the United Kingdom and 62 percent to the United States."

10 percent increase in the supply industry

While the largest product group Supply Industry exports increased by 10 percent to 1 billion 266 million USD, Passenger Cars exports increased by 28% to 926 million USD, Motor Vehicles for Goods Transport exports increased by 37% to 555 million USD, Bus-Minibus-Midibus exports increased by 79% to 234 million USD, and Tow Trucks exports decreased by 32% to 116 million USD.

While there was a 2 percent decrease in Germany, the country with the most exports in the Supply Industry, there was a 49% increase in exports to the United States, 20% to France, 25% to the United Kingdom, 66% to Romania and 27% to Poland. There was a 4% decrease in exports to Italy and a 20% decrease in exports to the Russian Federation.

There was a 109% increase in exports to Italy, 127% to the United Kingdom, 41% to Spain, 32% to Germany, 48% to Poland, 10% to France, 38% to Slovenia and 28% to Belgium, which is the country with the highest exports of passenger cars.

In Motor Vehicles for the Transport of Goods, exports to the United Kingdom increased by 66%, Italy by 13%, Slovenia by 9%, France by 30%, Belgium by 70% and Germany by 261%.

In the Bus-Minibus-Midibus product group, there was a 215% increase in exports to France and 211% to Germany.

31 percent increase in Italy and 75 percent increase in the United Kingdom

While 439 million USD was exported to Germany, the largest market, exports to Italy increased by 31% to 360 million USD, the United Kingdom increased by 75% to 359 million USD, Spain increased by 29%, Poland increased by 34%, Belgium increased by 1%, the United States increased by 62%, Romania increased by 23%, and exports to Slovenia decreased by 9%.

14 percent increase in EU countries in February

Exports to European Union countries, which rank first in the country group and have an export share of 67 percent, increased by 14 percent to 2 billion 107 million USD. While other European Countries ranked second among country groups with a share of 14%, exports to this country group increased by 76%. While there was a 14% decrease in exports to the Commonwealth of Independent States last month, there was a 40% increase in exports to the Middle East Countries and a 61% increase in exports to the North American Free Trade Area.
