Interview with Mr. Rakesh Gupta. Kadimi Group Chairman

Can you tell us the short history of Kadimi Group ?

We started Kadimi in 1977. Over the last 4 decades we have emerged as a leading supplier to the fastener & cold forging industry. When we started the business there wasn’t much production of fasteners in India and since market was small there were not many  suppliers who were interested in this market. So KADIMI started by representing some of the  leading global manufacturers worldwide in India.

In 1987, we started manufacturing flat thread rolling dies and gradually expanded our product range to cover the full range of flat dies. In 2013, we started manufacturing cold heading wire for fastener and cold forging industry.

Can you give the figures about the company? (Number of employees, quality certificates, factory m2, machinery, test equipment, etc.)

We employ around 450 people. We are ISO 9001 certified.

We have two production plants. Manufacturing plant of thread rolling dies is in Gurgaon (near New Delhi, India). Manufacturing plant of cold heading wire in Chennai (South part of India; located near the port). This plant has the area of more than 10 acres.
Kadimi uses the best quality equipment in both our factories.

We do all the manufacturing inhouse including heat treatment and surface treatments for thread rolling dies.
Our company has Spherodising/Annealing furnaces made in USA with fully automatic pickling line for CHQ wire.

Where are the production and sales locations? Do you have new location plans?

At present we have two manufacturing facilities in India. We have sales offices in USA, Europe & Honkong (for Greater China region). Currently we are looking at establishing or acquiring a production location overseas, USA and Europe to be closer to our customers.

What are the products you produce currently and plan to produce in the future? In which products you are more ambitious about?

We have two product lines primarily catering to the fasteners manufacturing companies.
Kadimi is manufacturing a very wide range of flat thread rolling dies to cover almost every application . We are going to expand our production range to meet the changing demands of our customers and look to cater to new industries.

The second product line is alloy and non-alloy CHQ wire. We manufacture high quality wire for aerospace, automotive and bearing industry. Our present size range is from 2.00 to 32.00mm. We intend to expand our size range to smaller sizes to under 2.00mm. The location of this facility is near Chennai port and our effort is to cater to both our domestic customers as well as exports.

Which countries is Kadimi currently exporting to? Which regions are your target market ?

We are exporting our products to more than 40 countries worldwide and have a wide network of distributors and customers. We are looking to expand our sales further in Turkey, Eastern Europe and the Eurasian region.

According to your experience, from the ordering stage to the delivery what are the services that customers care most?

The customers look at 3 factors ; price, quality and delivery.  In addition, we  offer  technical support so that our customers  can develop more complex  parts for their own customers. Recently, we have started our express production line for thread rolling dies to meet urgent customer requests. In this, we produce the dies in less than 2 weeks and this has been really appreciated by the customers.

What is the position and privilege of your company among your competitors in the world?

We are one of the most reliable manufacturers of flat thread rolling dies/ CHQ wire in the world and have philosophy of “Customer First”.

In which direction do you think the customer demands and trends in the fastener sector will increase? Which do you think will come to the forefront in the production of fasteners?

The market is changing due to the shift to EV from ICE. We expect this will reduce the demand for certain type of fasteners. However, the overall demand of fasteners  will increase as growth in other industries will compensate for this loss due to EV.

What kind of corporate strategy do you think is needed to protect and further develop your position in the market both globally and locally?

We hope to enhance our local presence and also in each key market like USA and Europe by providing regrinding facility for thread rolling dies  and also provide local stocking through our agent or by company owned warehouse.

What are Kadimi Tool’s goals and future investment plans?

In 2020-21 period, Kadimi has setup local offices in key markets; US and Germany. We hope to expand our sales team and also look to setup production sites where the market demands.

Which slogan can best describe your company?

“Business growth is a function of your sincerity to your customer”
